Welcome to the official website of the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority (UFZEPA) - the government agency responsible for the establishment, development, management, marketing, supervision, and regulation of Free Zones, as well as the promotion and coordination of all export-related activities in Uganda.
It is my honour to lead UFZEPA at a time when our country is scaling up efforts to become a globally competitive export hub. We are committed to catalyzing export-led industrialization, an anchor of Uganda’s ten-fold growth strategy, Vision 2040, and the National Development Plan IV, which prioritize industrialization, job creation, and increased export earnings.
UFZEPA’s work is driven by the desire to make Uganda a manufacturing and export hub in Africa. To achieve this, we facilitate the development of Special Economic Zones, drive export expansion, ensure regulatory efficiency and deliver great customer experiences. We will support Developers and Operators of export-oriented facilities, as well as producers and processors across all sectors in the country to guarantee high quality of our exports.
As Uganda transitions from exporting raw materials to value-added goods and services, Special Economic Zones have become strategic tools to attract export-focused industries, deepen industrial linkages, and integrate into regional and global value chains. The Authority is committed to creating a globally competitive environment in Uganda for value-added production by enabling a shift from exporting raw materials to exporting finished goods and services. We are promoting robust export readiness assessment, high quality processing, packaging and branding.
